Telegram Surpasses 500M Users Worldwide

Telegram said it surpassed 500 million monthly active users, in the first week of January.

This is following the backlash Facebook and WhatsApp are receiving due to its recent privacy policy change.

Telegram has continued to grow with 25 million new users joining Telegram in the last 72 hours alone, it added.

These new users are from across the globe – 38% from Asia, 27% from Europe, 21% from Latin America and 8% from MENA.

WhatsApp, which unveiled a new policy that allows increased data sharing with Facebook last week, has 4 billion users globally.

A brief statement by Telegram read;

Telegram surpassed 500 million active users

In the past 72 hours alone, more than 25 million new users from around the world joined Telegram.

Thank you! These milestones were made possible by users like you who invite their friends to Telegram.

If you have contacts that joined in the last few days, you can welcome them using one of Telegram’s unique features, such as an animated sticker or a video message.
