President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Lieutenant-Colonel Yusuf Muktar Dodo as his new Aide-de-Camp (ADC), The Nation reported.

The newspaper stated that Lt.-Col. Dodo is taking over from Colonel Mohammed Lawal Abubakar who is proceeding to resume a promotion course. The outgoing ADC will reportedly be promoted to the Brigadier-General rank, along with some others, after the completion of the course.

Meanwhile, the new presidential appointment has also been reported by Channels TV which also cited anonymous “State House sources”. The news media noted that the outgoing ADC has been in the role since 2015.

It was also gathered that until his latest appointment as the president’s ADC, Lieutenant Colonel Dodo was the Academy Adjutant of the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna.

The appointment of the new ADC came days after the president appointed new service chiefs on Tuesday, January 26. The president said he appointed the new service chiefs following the resignation of their predecessors. The Nigerian leader in a tweet via his official Twitter handle noted that he has accepted the immediate resignation of the service chiefs and their retirement from service. Similarly, President Buhari has written to the National Assembly, seeking the confirmation of the new service chiefs.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by the president’s special adviser on National Assembly matters, Babajide Omoworare, and released on Friday, January 29.
